Satnam Satnam WaheGuru ji – Guru Mantra

Satnam Satnam WaheGuru ji meaning:

Waheguru is a term most often used in Sikhism to refer to God, the Supreme Being or the creator of all. It signifies „Wonderful Teacher” in the Punjabi language, but in this case is used to refer to God.

Waheguru is the primordial Mantra. The first mantra. The word Vaheguru is made up of 2 words: Vaah(e) and Guru. Vaahe or Vaah is an euphoric expression of wonder and awe. Therefore it is often translated as wondrous or wonderful. Guru derives from 2 words. Gu signifies darkness, and Ru (Roo) signifies light.

Therefore Guru means that power, being, and presence, which dissipates darkness and brings light, in other words Enlightener. Cumulatively, the name implies wonder at the Divine Light eliminating and purifies spiritual darkness.

It might also imply – Hail the Lord whose Name eliminates and purifies spiritual darkness. Hence, the two words constituents of Vaheguru (Vaahe and Guroo) implies that consciousness state of wondrous ecstasy and offering homage to the Divine Creator Being.

Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th Guru of the Sikhs (1666-1708), used „Waheguru” in the invocatory sacred formula („Ik Onkar Sri Waheguru ji ki Fateh”, besides the more traditional „Ik Onkar Satguru Prasada”) at the starting of some of his compositions as well as in the Sikh salutation („Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh”).

Sat Nam is a potent mantra frequently used in Kundalini Yoga and amongst its practitioners.

Sat signifies Truth. TRUTH, in this context points to the Almighty. One that is immmortal. The one that is, was and will be existing forever. Everything that is mortal is false and has no real substance.

Naam means Name. Name of God, in real and more deeper sense it does not reflect a word, it is His Existence. Every religion and traditional spiritual path reveals different names of the Divine.

Sat Patim Dehi Parameshwara is a love mantra from India and it is used to attract a love partner.

Sat patim dehi parameshwara meaning:

„Please give to me a man of truth who manifests the perfect masculine principles.”

This wonderful mantra works best with Om Shrim Shriyei Namaha mantra.

Mantras have been used in Tibet and India for thousands of years, not just for enlightenment and chakra balance, but also to again the more practical goals of earthly life like wealth, love and abundance.

These sacred mantras were perceived in the distant past by seers and sages in deepest meditation state, which is known as samadhi, its a state when the mind becomes still.

These mantras are used during meditation to help clear your mind and focus your energy on the present moment.

There are many ancient mantras to choose from, each with its own purpose and intention. Reciting these healing sounds can benefit the spirit and the mind in various ways, while also assisting the body in healing itself. The mantra chanting will create healing vibrations.

We can see the beneficial results of exposure to certain frequencies in other ways as well. Even now there has been any studies that has provided discoveries on the use of frequencies.

They have worked with plants, exposing them to various kinds of sounds.

Plants would thrive when exposed to classical music, while they would languish or wither when around heavy rock music (low vibration).

The researchers have found that frequencies under 7 hertz create a general feeling of relaxation and well being, known as the alpha state. The most beneficial frequency on earth for the human body and mind is said to be the 6.8 hertz frequency.

Om Shrim Shriyei Namaha Mantra

$

Om Shrim Shriyei Namaha meaning:

„Om and Salutations to the creative abundance that is the very form of this universe.”

Sanskrit is believed to be by some scholars the „perfect language,” as its correct pronunciation evokes a unique vibration in the creation, placing into motion whatever you are trying to manifest through your mantra.

A Sanskrit mantra is made of syllables which exercise their influence by means of vibrations (or sound). As one would have personally experienced, different Sanskrit syllables of the mantra have different vibration patterns which affect different parts of the human body. Each syllable resonates with certain organ or part of the body.

As an object of concentration, a sacred mantra can help to still the mind. While you are chanting a mantra out loud or mentally, there tends to be less mental chatter.

Mantras can help us to develop mindfulness. The vibration of the mantra is a mental object, and paying attention to the sound of the mantra can be a type of mantra meditation, just as paying attention to the sensations of the breath is a meditation (also known as vipassana meditation).

Apart from that, reciting the mantra helps stimulates your chakras or the extrasensory energy centers. These energy centers align themselves with certain essential lymph nodes and organs of the body that help in the right functioning of the entire body. This in turn helps strengthen your immune system as the vibration align all your chakras, keeping your body disease free.

Reciting mantras is a good habit and beneficial to bring into your life, no matter how busy you are each day. The benefits of daily chanting the mantras are immeasurable, like the limitless sky.

Shani Dev Mantra – Om Sham Shanicharaya Namah is one of the Navagraha (the 9 primary celestial beings in Hindu astrology) of Jyotisa.

He is the God of justice in Hinduism. He is the Lord who gives the results of negative and positive karmas.

Shani Dev is the most feared of all deities because of his power to turn a king into a pauper within a moment. He is the Lord of Saturday and is embodied in the planet Saturn.

The planet Saturn was installed as a planet that will govern karma and dharma (spiritual teachings) in a horoscope. He will enter one`s horoscope as the karmic Guru and will ensure one learns the life lessons and pass the tests.

Shani Dev is also known as Kruradris or Kruralochana (the cruel-eyed), Saura (son of sun-god), Mandu (dull and slow), Asta (dark), Saptarchi (seven-eyed) and Pangu (disabled).

He is considered to be the most powerful in the 7th house. Saturn rules over the 2 sidereal signs of Aquarius and Capricorn. In addition, He exalts in Libra and falls in the sign of Aries. The planet Saturn is a particularly beneficial planet for Libra and Taurus ascendants.

In 2013, a 20-foot-tall statue of Lord Shani was established at Yerdanur, which is a small village located about four kilometers from the Mumbai National Highway. The statues was carved from a monolith and weighs about 9 tonnes.

Chanting Shani Dev Mantra – Om Sham Shanicharaya Namah benefits:

He, along with the goddess Jyestha, the god Yama (lord of death), and the goddess Nirrti, are connected with the crow in Hindu mythology. Throughout Hindu mythology crows represent harmful and inauspicious aspects, both of which He possesses.

Devotees consider that He is so powerful here that when a person who is suffering from Shani dasha comes here takes bath in the Nala Theertha and with their clothes wet goes and has darshan of Sri Shaneeshwara, the ill effects which he is suffering through Shani dasha is sure to vanish or at least abate to some extent.

Krishna is generally  believe to be an Avatar – a direct descent of God. He is acknowledged as the complete and 8th avatar of the Lord Vishnu, which is known as the Supreme God.

Krishna is one of the most widely revered and popular of all Hindu deities. The worship and adoration of Lord Krishna is part of Vaishnavism, which regards Lord Vishnu as the supreme God and venerates his associated avatars, their consorts, and related spiritual teachers and saints.

The stories of Krishnas’ life range from before he was born through a sequence of adventures as he matured into adulthood, his encounters with asuras (demons) and how he helped his family, friends, demigods and strangers. Lord Krishna delivered Bhagwad Gita on battlefield to Arjun.

The rich variety of legends linked with Lord Krishna’s life led to an abundance of representation in painting and sculpture. The child Krishna (known as Balakrishna) is portrayed crawling on his hands and knees or dancing with joy, a ball of butter held in his hands. Lord Krishna is also portrayed as a new born floating on a leaf of a banyan tree during the Pralaya (the great flood) at the end of the Dvapara Yuga.

Lord Krishna advised everyone to his capacity. He resides in the hearts of all beings. Lord Krishna is the joy in their lives, just like he is the Spring time. Lord Krishna’s instructions were not just for monks.

Nirvana Shatakam (or Atma Shatakam) by Adi Shankara

Nirvana Shatakam, also known as Atma Shatakam, is a composition consisting of six shlokas (and hence the name Sat-ka to mean six-fold) written by Adi Shankara, summarizing the basic spiritual teachings of Advaita Vedanta, or the Hindu teachings of non-dualism. This hymn is considered as synonymous with the path of brahmacharya.

Adi Shankara was a theologian and philosopher from India who centralized the doctrine of non-dualism, Advaita Vedanta.

The speaker of the poem is nominally the Lord Shiva, but it is commonly seen as a statement by a knowing person of identity with Brahman or Lord Shiva. It was written around 788-820 CE.

It is said that that when Adi Shankara was a young boy of 8 years and wandering near River Narmada, seeking to find his spiritual teacher, he encountered the seer Gaudapada who asked him, „Who are you?”. Adi Shankara replied with these stanzas, which are known as „Atma Satkam” or „Nirvaṇa Satkam”. This chant is held at great value for the progress in meditative practices that lead to Self-Realization.

Nirvana Shatakam (or Atma Shatakam) lyrics with translation in English:

Shloka 1

mano buddhi ahankara chittani naaham

I am not the mind, the ego, the intellect or the memory,

I am not the ears, the skin, the nose or the eyes,

I am not space, not earth, not fire, water or wind,

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, love and pure consciousness,

I am the eternal Lord Shiva.

I am not the breath, nor the five elements,

I am not matter, nor the five sheaths of consciousness

Nor am I the speech, the hands, or the feet,

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, love and pure consciousness,

I am the eternal Lord Shiva.

Shloka 3

There is no like or dislike in me, no greed or delusion,

I know not pride or jealousy,

I have no duty, no desire for wealth, lust or liberation,

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, love and pure consciousness,

I am the eternal Lord Shiva.

No virtue or vice, no pleasure or pain,

I need no mantras, no scriptures, no pilgrimage or rituals,

I am not the experienced, nor the experience itself,

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, love and pure consciousness,

I am the eternal Lord Shiva.

Shloka 5

chidananda rupah shivo’ham shivo’ham.

I have no caste, no fear of death or creed,

I have no father, no mother, for I was never born,

I am not a relative, nor a friend, nor a teacher nor a student,

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, love and pure consciousness,

I am the eternal Lord Shiva.

Shloka 6

na cha sangatham naiva muktir na meyaha

chidananda rupah shivo’ham shivo’ham.

I am devoid of duality, my form is formlessness,

I exist everywhere, pervading all senses,

I am neither attached, neither free nor captive,

I am indeed, That eternal knowing and bliss, love and pure consciousness,

I am the eternal Lord Shiva.

Pavan Guru mantra lyrics:

„Pavan Pavan Pavan Pavan

Par Para Pavan Guru

Pavan Guru Wahe Guru

Wahe Guru Pavan Guru.”

Meaning of Pavan Guru mantra:

  • Pavan means the Divine Breath;
  • Par Para means from beyond the beyond;
  • Pavan Guru means the breath is the Guru;
  • Wahe Guru means the experience of the Divine.

The name of this soothing mantra is Pran Bandha Mantra. This mantra binds, collects, and commands the life force or prana. In our usual non-liberated state, we are enslaved by our attachments and desires.

We become attached to our finite identity, or to space, time, and intensity of emotion or experience.

This amazing mantra takes you beyond those finite attachments. It opens the door to another dimension of the Self. It unites you into the unlimited sea of prana and life. Pavan is the air, the breath, carrier of the prana, the life force.

This is God in action. This pacifying mantra increases the pranic energy and forges a link between you as a finite unit magnetic field and the universal, creative magnetic field of energy that we call consciousness.

The mantra is from Guru Nanak’s Japji. The practitioner who chants this to perfection experiences deathlessness. You can merge into the greater pranic body that does not die with the physical body. Prayers and mental desires become much more effective.

This meditation can give you the ability to embody a divine personality, and to become creative and fearless.

Abundance and prosperity is everyone’s birthright. However, for most of us, negative programming gets in the way of having abundance. Unconsciously, at some level of consciousness, we begin to either hate or fear money.

The first (and maybe the most essential) thing to do right now to manifest money is to shift into an „attitude of gratitude.” The universe loves appreciation and will honor you with even more abundance once you start to be truly grateful for what you have.

Practice gratitude in all aspects of your life. Focus your thinking on what you have instead of what you lack. Don’t compare yourself to what others have (that you think is better). Guaranteed, focusing on what you’re grateful for will help you feel fulfilled with abundance when this becomes your lens for viewing the world.

Another way to increase the abundance in your life is chanting the following soothing mantras below, you will tap into the bottomless well of happiness and love that exists in the Universe.

5 Mantras for positive energy and good luck:

1.Ek Ongkar Sat Gur Prasad

This is a mantra which reverses the negative vibrations into positive ones.

2.Tumi Bhaja re Mana Mantra

This chant is a devotional song and is the best form of remembrance of the Supreme Being.

3.Aum mantra

Aum (pronounced OM) is the sacred sound that emanates from the center of creation, bringing consciousness into outer manifestation, maintaining it, and dissolving it back again, finally, into Infinite Spirit.

Aum mantra conveys the concept of omnipresence. Symbol Aum consists of 3 syllables, namely A, U and M. The letter A symbolize conscious state, letter U the dream state and letter M the dreamless sleep state of our mind. The whole symbol together stands for the fourth state which combines previous 3 states and move to whole different level of Samadhi (Supreme consciousness) From a yogic standpoint, AUM symbol represents the 3 gunas or attributes of Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas.

4.Moola mantra

This mantra contains enormous power and potential; it has the ability to expand your mind and raise your level of consciousness, thus benefiting all of mankind.

5.Om Mani Padme Hum

This magical mantra sometimes gives rise to fanciful or mysterious translations. The meaning of this mantra is simply one name of Chenrezig placed between 2 sacred and traditional syllables, HUNG and OM.

  • OM represents the body of all Buddhas; it is also the bija of all mantras;
  • MANI means „jewel” in Sanskrit;
  • PADME, the Sanskrit pronunciation, or PEME in Tibetan, signifies „lotus”;
  • HUNG signifies the mind of all Buddhas and often ends mantras;
  • MANI refers to the jewel that Avalokiteshvara holds in his two central hands and PADME to the lotus he holds in his second left hand.

3 Powerful Mantras for Love Everyone Should Know About

What is Love?

Love is life, because life comes out of love. If there is no love, there will be no life. So love and life are synonyms. It is for love that life comes into existence. why are people coming into this earth plane?

Because they want to experience relationship. So relationship is very vital for people who are living on this earth plane, particularly. It is what gives life meaning. So love is of different kinds.

One is love between genders and love between siblings and friends and relatives and also towards human beings. and animals too. and plants as well. so love sustains life.

So without love, there is no meaning to life. That’s the bottom line, that love is fundamental. It is not of the mind. It is of the heart. That’s why there is the expression, „you fall in love.” You fall from head to the heart. So love is not simply an emotional pull. It is also the highest intelligence.

Love is the highest intelligence. So if you are in love, you are in the heart center (anahata chakra), then you will be able to understand the highest intelligence. – source Dr. Pillai

„Love is life. And if you miss love, you miss life.” – Leo Buscaglia’s quote.

3 Powerful mantras for love:

1. Kleem Mantra

The mantra Kleem will do miracles. Kleem Mantra has ability to enhance the power of other mantras. Kleem, however, is one of the oldest spiritual methods used to create attraction. You will notice that Kleem has a unique feeling, it creates vibrations and reverberations in your body. When you focus on this mantra and meditate on it you change the vibration of your spirit. When you change your vibrational rate you change your relationship with the universe (which itself has its own frequency rate). And that is how a mantra works.

2. Kamdev Mantra

Kamadeva also called Kamdev, is the Hindu god of human love or desire. Kama Deva literally means „god of love” or „divine love”. Effective and simple, this mantra enhance your personality and attract the others. This love mantra is all about prosperity and love. So, praising Kama Deva spreads the message of peace and brings in love in the family and among friends.

3. Sat Kartar Mantra

The translation of this mantra is – „God is the Doer”, which signifies God or the Great Divine One, is the One doing this action, this situation.

The second aspect of this heart-opening mantra is that it is a key to living in a state of Faith. We are calling our souls to experience, to walk, to do, in our lives with the belief and understanding that the Divine One is working in all aspects.

To experience the trusting, faithful aspect of love in our lives, we sometimes need to first do the work to trust and open the Flow of the Divine doing everything. When we open to that Flow then we establish and allow a course for the Universe to Flow back to us in response, with All it is waiting to give to us.

Bodhisattva Akasagarbha Mantra

Akasagarbha mantra lyrics:

„Namo Akasagarbhaya om arya kamari mauli svaha.”

Translation:

„In the name of Akasagarbhaya Om Flower-Garland Lotus-Crown may it be accomplished.”

Akasagarbha is one of the 8 great Bodhisattvas of Mahayana Buddhism. His name can literally be translated as „void store” or „boundless space treasury”, His wisdom is said to be boundless as space itself. He belongs to Ratnesa family. „Akasa” and „Kha” signifies the boundless space or sky.

The Bodhisattva is a symbol of perfect memory, knowledge and intuition of Buddhists precepts. This deity is important in the Shingon school and other esoteric schools of Buddhism.

He is occasionally known as the twin brother of the „earth store” Bodhisattva Ksitigarbha, and is even succinctly mentioned in the Sutra of The Great Vows of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.

The reason why the Bodhisattva is called Akasagarbha is elucidated in the Ta-fang-teng-ta-chi-ching – „Suppose there is a millionaire who has limitless riches, an immeasurable store of large donations to people, specially to the poor and bereaved. Suppose that he opens his store to make offerings to those people as much as they want, and that he is thereby immensely satisfied. Like that rich man, does Bodhisattva Akasagarbha practice his meritorious acts”.

According to Su-yao-I-Kuei, the man who wants to get wisdom and happiness, should devote himself to The Bodhisattva.

The reason is that Moon, Sun and the stars are ll the incarnations of Akasagarbha Bodhisattva. Again, the Akasagarbha Sutra explains thus the devotion of his followers;

„The followers take bath in scented water, put on clean clothes, burn incense of aloe and turns his face to the east late at night. Bodhisattva brings before his mind the reddish Aruna and recite to him: “Thou great merciful one, dost appear and illuminate this world. Have mercy on me out of compassion and protect me. It goes on to say that the dawn Aruna appears in the east; the Akasagarbha Bodhisattva appears”.

Chanting Akasagarbha mantra benefits:

It is believed that chanting this mantra gives rise to creativity and wisdom, and dispel ignorance.

Namo Amituofo Mantra Meaning – Amitabha Buddha Song

$

0

Namo Amituofo meaning:

Amitabha, also called Amituofo in Chinese, literally means boundless light and boundless life. He is the Buddha in the Pure Land (or the Land of Ultimate Bliss), in which all beings enjoy unbounded happiness. He represents compassion and love, and Amitabha Buddha is pictured as being the rich, warm color of the setting sun.

Amitabha Buddha has 48 great vows to establish and adorn his Pure Land. People also call or recite upon his name by the time of dying will be born in the Pure Land with the reception by Buddha Amitabha.

According to the Mahayana Amitayus Sutra, Buddha Amitabha was, in very ancient times and possibly in another system of worlds, a monk named Dharmakara. In some versions of the Mahayana Amitayus Sutra, the monk is described as a former king who, having come into contact with the Buddhist dharma through the Buddha Lokesvararaja, renounced his throne.

Dharmakara then resolved to become a Buddha and so to come into possession of a buddha-field (buddha-ksetra), a realm existing in the primordial universe outside of ordinary space time, produced by a Buddha’s merit. These resolutions were expressed in his 48 vows, which set out the type of buddha-field Dharmakara aspired to create, the conditions under which beings might be born into that world, and what type of beings they would be when reborn there.

He is also known in Mongolia, Tibet, and other regions where Tibetan Buddhism is practiced. In the Highest Yoga Tantra class of the Tibetan Vajrayana Buddha Amitabha is acknowledged as one of the Five Dhyani Buddhas (together with Amoghasiddhi, Aksobhya, Vairocana, and Ratnasambhava), who is linked with the western direction and the skandha of saṃjna, the aggregate of recognition and the deep awareness of individualities.

What is the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss?

This is the Buddha Land of Buddha Amitabha. In the sutra, there is full description about this Pure Land. This is the world of utmost joy without suffering. With the spiritual power of Amitabha, all sentient beings in this world will understand Buddhism easily and practice diligently, and attain enlightenment eventually. Therefore by reciting Amitabha’s name, Buddhist devotees hope that they will be born in this Pure Land after their lives on earth. Faith in Amida’s Pure Land Sect can be traced back to the Six Dynasties Period in China (317-589 AD).

Chanting Namo Amituofo benefits:

You can use this mantra as a prayer or in a meditation. It is good to sing or repeat, with a sincere heart. It can also help to purify your negative karma. However you use it, may this chant bless you and your loved ones.

Through Amitabha Buddha practices, our deluded passion, attachment and grasping are transmuted into the clear-sighted warmth of true loving compassion. The ego’s selfish demands yield to our profound commitment to others’ well-being and enlightenment.

Om Namah Shivaya Gurave Mantra – Anusara Invocation

Om Namah Shivaya Gurave,

Saccidananda Murtaye,

Nisprapancaya Shantaya,

Niralambaya Tejase Om.

Translation:

I offer myself to the one true teacher within and without,

In the forms of reality, consciousness and bliss,

Ever present and full of peace,

Independent being, the vital essence of illumination.

Anusara Invocation – Om Namah Shivaya Gurave meaning:

This sacred and ancient Sanskrit mantra is often sung at the starting of practice to direct your awareness, connect with the healing energy of Life, and remember the joyful intention of why you walk the path of yoga.

When you hear this amazing mantra recited, you can experience how natural and easy it is to recite the mantra, to be in the body of sound.  It is so easy for the mind to relax and let go and be in the present moment.

Anusara Yoga, founded by John Friend in 1997, is an energetic hatha yoga system that unifies a Tantric philosophy of intrinsic Goodness with Universal Principles of Alignment. John Friend states that the term „Anusara” signifies „flowing with Nature”, „flowing with Grace” and „following your heart”.

Presently, it is one of the most popular and fastest growing yoga styles in the world with over 1200 affiliated yoga teachers and 100,000 students world-wide. Anusara Yoga classes are now found throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, U.K., Japan and Australia with a growing presence in numerous other areas of the world.

Moreover, it is attracting media attention worldwide including a 2004 Yoga Journal cover story, CBS national news in the United States, as well as magazines and newspapers throughout North America and Europe.

The Three A’s:

The practice of Anusara Yoga is generally categorized into 3 parts, known as the Three A’s:

  • Attitude, writes John Friend, is the „power of the heart as the force behind every action or expression in an asana.” It is „the aspiration to reawaken to our true nature, and the triumph of life.”
  • Alignment, according to Friend, is the „mindful awareness of how different parts of ourselves are integrated and interconnected.” Anusara’s Universal Principles of Alignment are refinements of this principle.
  • Action, according to John Friend, is the “natural flow of energy in the body, which provides both joyful freedom and stability.”

This is a text composed by the Tibetan master Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye (1813-1899) and is a praise to the great masters of different lineages.

Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye is widely known for synthesizing the experience and knowledge of the many lineages of Buddhism in Tibet. He achieved great renown as a writer and scholar, and authored more than one hundred volumes of scriptures.

Among these, the best known is the Five Treasuries, made up of Treasury of Key Instructions, The Treasury of Kagyu Mantras, Treasury of Precious Termas, Treasury of Knowledge, and the Treasury of Vast Teachings.

Furthermore, He became the principal teacher of and gave the full transmission of the lineage to the Khakyab Dorje, 15th Karmapa Lama.

The Buddha, Guru Rinpoche, and other great masters have prophesied that Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye’s subsequent rebirths will culminate as the last Buddha of this Good Aeon, the glorious Buddha Adhimukta, whose activities, qualities and influence will be that of all the preceding Buddhas of the aeon jointed.

“The key point for invoking the Guru’s Blessings is devotion, inspired by renunciation and disenchantment. Not as mere platitude, but from the core of your heart, with the confidence that your own Guru is none other than the Awakened One.” – quote by Lodro Thaye – Rangjung Yeshe.

Nilakantha Dharani Mantra (Maha Karuna Dharani)

$
0
0

The Nilakantha Dharani or Maha Karuna Dharani, popularly known as the Great Compassion Mantra in English, is a dharaṇi of Mahayana Buddhist origin.

This dharani cites 84 of the manifestations that Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara will take to help people along the spiritual way. The sutra that this dharani points to, narrates a discourse between Buddhas and the Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva wherein one learn that He brings salvation from all sins, even those that were previously believe to be venial sins.

He is a Bodhisattva who embodies the compassion of all Buddhas. According to Mahayana doctrine, Avalokitesvara is the Bodhisattva who has made a great vow to listen to the prayers of all sentient beings in times of difficulty, and to delay his own Buddha-hood until he has assisted every being on Earth in achieving nirvana.

The Karmapa is considered by the Karma Kagyu sect (one of the 4 major schools of Tibetan Buddhism) to be Chenrezig’s primary manifestation. The Dalai Lama is considered by the Gelugpa sect and many other Tibetan Buddhists to be the principal earthly manifestation of Chenrezig. It is said that Guru Padmasambhava prophesied that Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara will manifest himself in the Tulku lineages of the Dalai Lamas and the Karmapas.

Chanting benefits:

Maha karuna signifies great compassion, loving kindness or sympathy, also refers to gratification and equanimity. Anterjami Purakh Bidhate lyrics in Gurmukhi:

„Anṯarjami purakẖ bidhatee sardha man ki pure.
Nanak das ihai sukh magai mo ka-o kar santan ki dhure.”

Anterjami Purakh Bidhate mantra translation in English:

„Nanak, Your slave, begs for this happiness: let me be the dust of the feet of the Saints.
O Inner-knower, Searcher of Hearts, O Primal Being, Architect of Destiny: please fulfill this yearning of my mind.”

This mantra is from Kirtan Sohila. Kirtan Sohila is the night time hymn said by all Sikhs before they go to sleep. Three Sikh Gurus – Guru Ram Das, Guru Nanak and Guru Arjan – contributed with 5 shabads in total to this bani on the pain of separation and celebrating the bliss of union with Almighty.

Kirtan Sohila signifies „Song of Praise”. This chant is frequently chanted at the conclusion of evening ceremonies at the Gurdwara and it is also chanted as part of Sikh funeral services.

This chant is in Gurmukhi. The word „Gurmukhi” literally translates as „from the mouth of the Guru”. Gurmukhi has some correlations to older Indian scripts of the times, but it’s 35 characters and vowel modifiers were standardized by Guru Angad.

Stylistically, this language obtains its letter shapes from Landa, but considerable influence from Nagari is evident from the top horizontal bar present in most letters.

Kundalini Yoga frequentlly uses mantra taken from the language of Gurmukhi.  As far as languages go, it is relatively new. It’s less than 500 years old.

The language was developed to be a very explicit phonetic language. By learning to pronounce Gurmukhi, individuals could not only learn to pronounce and read the chants written by Guru Nanak (the beginner of Sikhism and the first of the ten Gurus of the Sikhs).

They could also learn how to pronounce the mantras that Guru Nanak had preserved during his life from other sages and masters, even if those songs were in a completely different language.

The invention of this language was key to opening the doors of the Shabad Guru to all people. By learning this very simple, precise method of pronunciation, and by chanting the words of the sages, you start to induce in yourself the same state of higher consciousness that they were in when they sang the mantras.
