Mantra lyrics:

”Pindaj Pravrarudha Chandkpasrkaryuta. Prasidam Tanute Mahyam Chandrghnteti Vishruta.”

Maa Chandraghanta mantra translation:

”O Goddess Chandraghanta, who rides on Tiger, angry on enemies, holds many weapons in 10 hands, be propitious to me.”

Description:

Mother Durga is the primordial form of the Mother Goddess and acknowledged to be the main cause of creation, sustenance, and annihilation of the Universe.

In Durga Puja, the 3rd day of Navratri festival is very important. This day represents the moment when the mind of the devotee enters Manipura chakra.

Goddess Chandraghanta is the representation of the supreme knowledge and bliss. In this aspect, Mother Durga has 10 arms and rides a tiger. This is a terrible form and is roaring in anger.

The Goddess has a half Chandra (moon) in the shape of a ghanta (bell) on Her forehead, hence the Goddess is called Devi Chandraghanta.

In order to appease Her, the practitioner should offer Her sweets, milk, and kheer. The Goddess fulfills all the aspirations of a follower and provides relief from worldly sufferings.

Legend

The Goddess persuaded Lord Shiva to reappear in a charming form. Listening to Her, Lord Shiva appears as a prince decorated with countless jewels.

Goddess Parvati revived her father, mother, and friends, then Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married and made promises to one another.

Iconography

The complexion possessed by the Goddess is golden. In addition, She is depicted with eight of Her hands displaying weapons, while the remaining two hands are respectively in the mudras (hand gestures) of boon giving and stopping harm.

She rides on a lion, which means that the Mother inspires Her devotees with courage and fearlessness.

Day three Navratri mantra chanting benefits:

Maa Chandraghantaa should be worshiped and adored with great purity in mind and a sincere heart. The devotees who adore and venerate the Goddess with their actions, minds and speech develop an aura of divine splendor. Furthermore, they emit out invisible power-waves (prana or energy) which exercise a beneficial impact on those who come in contact with them. Also, practicing this mantra dissolves all obstacles and fears.
