Mantra lyrics:

”Om Daserathaya Vidhmahe
Sita Vallabhaya Dheemahe
Thanno Rama Prachodayath.”

Rama Gayatri mantra translation:

”Om, Let me meditate on the son of Dasaratha,
Oh, consort of Sita, give me higher intellect,
And let God Rama illuminate my mind.”

Description:

Lord Rama, one of the most worshiped and revered Hindu deities, is the embodiment of virtue and chivalry.

Devotees of India’s Vedic culture see Rama as the most powerful warrior, the ideal king, and the most faithful husband. Rama’s integrity, nobility, decency, and virtue are spoken of with reverence even in the present day.

Krishna (also an incarnation of Lord Vishnu) and Rama were the two most popular recipients of adoration from the bhakti groups that swept the country during that time.

Born as the eldest son of Kausalya and Dasharatha, king of Ayodhya, He is referred within Hinduism as Maryada Purushottama, literally translating as ”Lord of Self-Control,” ”the Perfect Man,” ”Full of virtues” or ”Lord of Virtue.”

Lord Rama’s story is told in the Ramayana (“Rama’s Journey”) and in the sacred Mahabharata (“Great Epic of the Bharata Dynasty”).

In Buddhist tradition, He is present in the form of Dasrath Kathanak, Dasarath Jatak, and Anamak Jatak, the first of which was composed in the 2nd century BCE. This version talks of Sita and Rama as siblings (which are a usual symbolic imagery in ancient Buddhist literature to denote purity of a dynasty).

He had two sons, Kusa and Lava. The former founded Kusavati at the foot of the Vindhya mountains. The latter ruled in Sravasti, which was the capital of Oudh at the time of the Gautama Buddha in the 5th and 6th centuries before Christ.

In sculpture, He is commonly portrayed as a standing figure, holding a bow in His left hand, and an arrow in His right. His image in a shrine or temple is almost invariably attended by figures of his wife, Sita, His half brother, Lakshmana, and Lord Hanuman.

Mantra chanting benefits:

Chanting this amazing Sanskrit mantra is beneficial for married couples and families, helping them to have a prosperous and peaceful environment. Reciting the mantra early in the morning helps to overcome dangers and obstacles.
