Avalokiteshvara’s Ten Prayers lyrics and translation:

„JE LAMA NAMLA SOLWA DEB, GOE KADRIN CHENGYI JINGYI LOB
To the assembly of spiritual masters, I beseech with gratitude – please grant blessings.

DIR TSOKPEI KALDEN PHOMO NAM, WANG CHOEDHI DONDANG DENPAR ZHU
Fortunate men and women gathered here, please receive these precious empowerments and Teachings

OM MANI PADME HUM HRI OM MANI PADME HUM

DENG JALWI TSENDEN LAMA DI, JE SANGYEY YERMED CHIWOR GOM
Having met the assembly of Gurus here, envision above your head – whom in essence is Buddha himself –

LHA THUKJE CHENPO CHIWOR GOM, GNAG YIGEY DRUKMEI SOLDEB ZOD
the great compassionate Avalokiteshvara, beseech and recite:

OM MANI PADME HUM HRI OM MANI PADME HUM

SEM JAMDANG NYINGJE CHENPO GOM, CHOE JETSED DROWEI DONDU ZOD
Practice great love and compassion, practice for the benefit of all sentient beings.

JIG GEYDANG NEDDON GANGJUNG YANG, JIG KYOBKYI YIGEY DRUKMA YANG
Whatever 8 fears, evil obstacles and diseases, can be pacified by reciting these 6 syllables:

OM MANI PADME HUM HRI OM MANI PADME HUM

LUE MITAK PANI NGONSUM LA, YONG KHORWA DILA NYINGPO MED
Our bodies are impermanent, there is no essence in samsara.

CHOE GEWA CHUPO DRUPA DANG, DIG MIGEY CHUPO PANGWAR JA
Practice the 10 positive deeds, and abandon the 10 negative deeds.

OM MANI PADME HUM HRI OM MANI PADME HUM

DE TARDU ZEDPI PHENYON GYI, TSE DIDANG CHIMA DELEK JUNG
The benefits of practicing correspondingly, will bring happiness and well-being in this and future lives.

CHIR GYALKHAM YONGLA TRASHI SHOG, GOE DIRTSOK THROMLA TRASHI SHOK
May all be auspiciousness in this world, and may auspiciousness come to all gathered here.

OM MANI PADME HUM HRI OM MANI PADME HUM.”

Description:

Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of infinite compassion and mercy, possibly the most beloved of all figures in Buddhist legend. Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara is beloved throughout the Buddhist world – not only in Mahayana Buddhism (Great Vehicle), but also in Theravada, the branch of Buddhism that largely does not recognize Bodhisattvas, and in Vajrayana, the Tantric branch of Buddhism.

Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara has great powers and can help all sentient beings. His siddhis are limitless and he can appear in any form in all the 6 realms of existence to relieve the suffering of the sentient beings who live there. Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara vowed to rescue those who call on him when they are in suffering, for example, when caught in a fire, shipwrecked or facing an attack.

The virtues and miracles of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara are accounted in many Buddhist sutras. The Avalokiteshvara-sutra was incorporated into the well-known Saddharmapundarika-sutra, or Lotus Sutra, in the third century c.e., though it continued to circulate as an independent work in China.

In the Lotus Sutra, Gautama Buddha said that if a suffering being hears the name of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara and earnestly calls out to the Bodhisattva, Avalokiteshvara will hear the call and relieve that being from his suffering.
